{"id":11022,"date":"2021-07-06T10:27:13","date_gmt":"2021-07-06T14:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/?p=11022"},"modified":"2021-07-06T10:31:02","modified_gmt":"2021-07-06T14:31:02","slug":"ghc-cuts-ribbon-new-learning-lab-bim-bachelors-degree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/2021\/07\/06\/ghc-cuts-ribbon-new-learning-lab-bim-bachelors-degree\/","title":{"rendered":"GHC cuts ribbon on new learning lab for BIM bachelor\u2019s degree"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/\">Georgia Highlands College (GHC)<\/a> has partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/sds2.com\/company\/about-us\">SDS2 (A Nemetschek Company)<\/a> for the opening of a learning lab for students in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/2021\/06\/03\/new-bachelors-ghc-focuses-future-engineering-construction\/\">new bachelor\u2019s in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>BIM is the technology-driven process for estimating, creating and managing information and visuals on a construction project. A building information model represents a 3D version of every aspect of the project, from facade to foundation to structural steel.<\/p>\n<p>GHC\u2019s partnerships with local industry leaders in the field led to an affordable degree pathway to a fast-growing sector with high-paying careers.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership with SDS2 gives students access to a learning lab at GHC\u2019s Cartersville site with some of the leading software for 3D steel detailing software with intelligent connection design. SDS2 generously donated the software and technology utilized in this learning lab.<\/p>\n<p>A ribbon cutting for the lab was held late June and the name of the lab was unveiled as the \u201cSDS2 Learning Lab\u201d in honor of the company\u2019s generous contribution.<\/p>\n<p>The new bachelor\u2019s program will go before the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools for certification this fall. Slated to come online in January, it is one of just two programs of its kind in the nation.
