{"id":6627,"date":"2017-10-12T13:13:41","date_gmt":"2017-10-12T17:13:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/?page_id=6627"},"modified":"2025-07-11T14:41:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T18:41:08","slug":"home-schooled-non-accredited-high-school-applicants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/how-do-i-apply\/home-schooled-non-accredited-high-school-applicants\/","title":{"rendered":"Home School and Non-Accredited High School Applicants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Home school applicants who did not complete a regionally accredited program, must apply to GHC under the non-accredited home school\/high school policy of the\u00a0Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and Georgia Highlands College institutional eligibility standards.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Steps to Enrollment:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.highlands.edu\">online application<\/a> and pay $30 non-refundable application processing fee.<\/li>\n<li>Must be <strong>age 15 or older<\/strong> by the first day of the semester applying for.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants graduating from non-accredited homeschools shall document their graduation and completion of the 17 units of the Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) through the submission of a curriculum packet. RHSC guidelines are found in the University System of Georgia\u2019s document \u201c<span data-ogsc=\"rgb(49, 116, 175)\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usg.edu\/student_affairs\/assets\/student_affairs\/documents\/Staying_on_Course.pdf\" data-ogsc=\"\">Staying on Course<\/a><\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\">.&#8221; <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants should complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/georgiahighlands2.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/AdvisingPathwayMaps\/EZmnp1uaqYZDnacnhmKeG4IBlqFuLiTktPjuHa5WtoxKWQ?e=MSFCvm\">Home School RHSC Evaluation form<\/a> and submit to <a class=\"ms-outlook-linkify\" href=\"mailto:admitme@highlands.edu\" data-ogsc=\"\">admitme@highlands.edu<\/a>. The following seven components are required for each of the 17 RHSC courses:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Course title;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Course description;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\" data-ogsc=\"black\"><strong>List of course learning materials, including textbooks and software;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\" data-ogsc=\"black\"><strong>Course credit;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\" data-ogsc=\"black\"><strong>Year completed;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\" data-ogsc=\"black\"><strong>Grade earned; and,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\" data-ogsc=\"black\"><strong>Source (public school, private school, correspondence program, or home generated curriculum)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\">The GHC Admissions Department will evaluate the information provided in the packet to verify completion of the RHSC units and may require additional documentation to further evaluate course content.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">4. If you are applying for in-state tuition, submit <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.highlands.edu\/admissions\/verifying-lawful-presence\/\">Verification of Lawful Presence.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">5.
