{"id":9548,"date":"2020-02-19T13:32:59","date_gmt":"2020-02-19T18:32:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/?p=9548"},"modified":"2020-02-19T13:32:59","modified_gmt":"2020-02-19T18:32:59","slug":"ghc-student-chosen-board-regents-academic-day-representative-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/2020\/02\/19\/ghc-student-chosen-board-regents-academic-day-representative-3\/","title":{"rendered":"GHC student chosen as Board of Regents Academic Day representative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Georgia Highlands College student Haydn Turner has a perfect 4.0 GPA, and recently, she was chosen to represent GHC at the Board of Regents Academic Day in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) honored 26 students total who best represent the system\u2019s highest scholastic ideals during Academic Recognition Day this month.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Each of the system\u2019s institutions selected a student with a 4.0 GPA who also reflects the system\u2019s best qualities: \u201cThey aim to strive for excellence and have the ability to share knowledge in various areas of expertise.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Academic Recognition Day began 32 years ago as a celebration of Georgia students\u2019 academic achievement. The honorees receive a resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives along with a letter of commendation from USG Chancellor Steve Wrigley.<\/p>\n<p>In his letter of commendation, Chancellor Wrigley congratulated the honorees but also focused on the magnitude of the students\u2019 efforts: \u201cEducation has an intrinsic worth, but your accomplishment is about more than just that,\u201d he said. \u201cYou have seized the opportunity to build upon an incredibly valuable time in your life and lay a foundation for success far beyond your chosen field of study.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Haydn attends GHC\u2019s Cartersville site and lives in Aragon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-9551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_image003.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1025\" height=\"474\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_image003.jpg 1025w, https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_image003-600x277.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.highlands.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_image003-768x355.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1025px) 100vw, 1025px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Georgia Highlands College student Haydn Turner has a perfect 4.0 GPA, and recently, she was chosen to represent GHC at the Board of Regents Academic Day in Atlanta.
