The recent pleasant weather extended our tourist season, with roads and parking lots both showing increased use. People flocked to our area from the GTA to experience the great outdoors. We are fortunate that the place we call home is so attractive to our southern friends. Their smiles reached their eyes, as they recounted stories of how they loved our hiking trails and the escarpment. Tourism matters, and every store and restaurant is a goodwill ambassador for Grey Highlands. We trust that our consumer-facing Members had a bountiful weekend.

Please contact the Office at (519) 986-4612 by Fri., Nov. 13 (this Friday) if you’d like to put a float in the Markdale Drive-Through Santa Claus Parade. Please also contact the Office if you’d like to be a volunteer, either at the parade (Nov. 28), Markdale’s Moonlight Madness (Nov. 27), or Flesherton’s Festive Friday (Dec. 4). We have a need both for adults and for highschoolers looking for community hours to help with a variety of tasks.

So who else is with me, taking on the goal of shopping local this Christmas? I’ll be hitting both Markdale’s Moonlight Madness on Nov. 27 and Flesherton’s Festive Friday the week after and hope to make a good dent in my shopping list. Markdale’s night will host some of the Farmers’ Market vendors, too. We hope you’ll plan to take advantage of these special shopping days and the fun activities the stores and galleries are preparing for the cheerful evenings.
